Hello everyone! Our August monthly meetup approaches- and this time, we’re so excited to host a speaker from out-of-town with a Minnesota connection- Kendra Vander Vliet!

As a current rough layout artist at Disney Feature, Kendra will talk about her journey into animation, getting to direct a short for Disney+ called Downtown, and where she is now with her process and artistry. Afterwards, there’ll be Q and A, so come to ask a question personally!

As always, we have free pizza and time to mingle before and after the talk to catch up with fellow animators/motion designers/vfx artists/people who will definitely know that obscure thing you like.

A little more about our speaker:

Kendra Vander Vliet is an experienced Rough Layout Artist with a passion for cinematography and finding the emotion of a story. With over 13 years of experience in the animated film industry, including the director of the Disney Short film “Downtown” created for Disney+, she’s worked on films such as Encanto, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Feast, and Frozen. Before that, she worked at Dreamworks as a rough layout artist on Kung Fu Panda, Rise of The Guardians, and more!
