How To: Land Your First Design Job

You may have learned a lot in school (or on your own) about how to concept a brand, how to print riso zines or how to make a nice app, but what do you do after all of that? How do you convince an employer that not only do you have the skills, but you’re also a really rad person to work with? In this workshop, we’ll walk through a set of topics that take you from building a portfolio all the way through accepting a job offer. We’ll talk about things like email etiquette, how social media can be a tool, dreaded “networking events,” and many other helpful topics. It’s all very overwhelming and we’re here to decipher it all! This workshop is best for students close to graduation or those who have recently graduated (or self-taught people in a similar boat)! While this workshop is open to everyone, it might be more helpful for those who are focused on print or print/hybrid roles.
