Sketch Cinema: Monster vs Monster

Movies and drawing go together like popcorn and seasoned salt, so join us for a back-to-back double feature of both classics and not-so-classics. Grab a sketchbook, a few friends, and your best film appreciation glasses and hang out with us!
Stories and personifications of the environment, environmental forces, and man’s tampering with these forces have been explored by many artists and filmmakers since the dawn of language. In the 20th/21st century, few are as iconic than director Ishiro Honda’s hulking atomic metaphor, Godzilla. Since the nuclear lizard’s debut film in 1954, the franchise has birthed 29 films and a true menagerie of oversized, mutated monsters.
One of the most favored in the series’ second era (the ‘Heisei’ period) is the 1989 film Godzilla vs. Biollante, in which genetic science gives birth to a massive, deadly plant. This monster of course comes toe-to-toe with Godzilla in what becomes a fatal showdown… For fans of psychics, familial bonds, professional hitmen, and biogenetics. Godzilla vs. Biollante is rated PG and runs 1h44m.
The second Godzilla flick will be chosen by a vote… So show up and stick around for a double bill of big ‘Zilla and his encounters with equally big rivals!
