For our October Monthly meetup, come mingle (costumes and spookiness welcome!) and get to hear from our speaker, award-winning composer, producer, and songwriter Steve Horner! His original music and production can be heard in feature films and documentaries, animated series, trailers, and commercials, as well as on top artist hits around the world. As a musician that’s partnered with animation deeply throughout his career, he’ll speak to his journey, moving out to LA for 6 years before moving back to Minnesota for the last 3, and how he handles connecting with a huge spectrum of styles and genres for both commercial and entertainment work. See, no, hear, how sound takes film to the next level and composes half of the viewing experience- and how you can consider it more thoughtfully.

A little more about our speaker:

Steve Horner is a composer, producer, and songwriter who creates a diverse range of music spanning multiple genres and mediums. He composed the score to the 2019 Academy Award-nominated animated short film One Small Step from TAIKO Studios which currently has over 30 million views on YouTube, and he has since continued his collaboration with TAIKO on a number of animated projects for popular properties like Pokémon and Lego. In 2022, his strings cover of Harry Styles’ “Sign Of The Times” featured prominently in Season 2 of Bridgerton (Netflix) and has surpassed 10 million streams on Spotify while also garnering the attention of outlets like Variety, who wrote about the process of creating and placing the cover.

As always- free pizza, drinks, and plenty of time to mingle with your fellow animators/motion designers/vfx artists/people before and after the talk.
