Rendering is an unavoidable part of most motion and animation projects. From one person operations up to large studios, everyone can benefit from having a render farm. Want to learn how to set up your own render farm, for free, with no IT experience necessary? Reserve your spot at this workshop where MAKE’s Technical Director, Aaron Dabelow, will show you how to get your own farm started using Thinkbox Deadline.

Using a render manager does more than let you use multiple machines that you have at your workplace. It also lets you schedule, pause / resume, edit, and re-render on however many computers you have. Even if you just have one, you can send jobs to be queued up and process when you are at lunch, sleeping, or taking a call, and can be paused when you want to return to work. Additionally, with Thinkbox Deadline, you will have access to Amazon’s cloud rendering services(AWS) to rent, so if you are in a real bind, you can quickly rent 10,000 hours of computer time. What the heck is Thinkbox Deadline?

Deadline is a free render manager that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is free street parking. You might not be able to get a spot right in front of Fool Proof, but there is plenty of parking on the surrounding blocks.

What can I bring into the event?

Some snacks and La Croix will be provided. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks.
